Effects of Aging on the Urinary System

Aging affects each system of the body in different ways.  Here are some main effects of aging on the urinary system:

  • Kidneys have trouble filtering waste, leading  toxic substances to build up in the body.
  • The bladder gets smaller and weaker.
  • Incontinence is more common in elderly people, but it is not a normal part of aging.
